A "follow the fun" design approach led to the iteration of a deep movement system that merges seamlessly with fast-paced combat.

Downtown Showdown is a first-person movement-focused arena shooter where players use their momentum in combat to defeat waves of enemies. Dash, slide, head stomp, trip, launch, and jump to survive the onslaught of unique enemies in a game that rewards movement in combat. Master the flow of the arena, upgrade components, and unlock weapon pickups in a sui generis blend of genres and mechanics.

Summary of Responsibilities

I was responsible for all aspects of design and development.

I designed the gameplay and all mechanics, including combat, movement, progression, enemy AI, gameplay loop, and balancing.

I designed and constructed the arena (level design).

I programmed the game and all its systems and mechanics.
